The short version:TinkerDay signs you in anonymously, no email required. Your display name and puzzle results are visible on shared leaderboards and to your group, but nothing else is. Reminders are scheduled entirely on your own device — we don’t run a push service. You can delete everything from Settings at any time.
1. Who we are
TinkerDay is a mobile app published by AkiziTech, an independent studio (“we”, “our”, “us”). It delivers one shared daily puzzle to everyone in your age bracket. You can reach us at support@akizitech.com.
2. Your account
TinkerDay signs you in anonymously when you first open the app — no email or password required. You can optionally link Sign in with Applefrom Settings to keep your streak and points recoverable if you lose your device; this adds Apple’s identifier to your existing anonymous account rather than creating a new one.
TinkerDay is intended for users 14 and older. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger, and the app doesn’t offer an onboarding path for younger age brackets.
3. Data we store
Tied to your account, we store what’s needed to run the app:
- Profile basics — your chosen display name (kept unique across all users), age bracket, topic preferences, daily drop time, device timezone, and notification preference.
- Puzzle activity— which problems you’ve attempted or solved, your answers, solve time, and hints unlocked.
- Points and streaks — your points balance, a ledger of how you earned or spent them, and your current/longest streak.
- Groups— any private group you’ve created or joined, your role in it, and the sessions run inside it.
- Subscription status — whether you hold an active Premium entitlement (see Purchases below), synced from Apple.
Your display name and puzzle performance (rank, solve time) are visible to other users in your age bracket on the daily leaderboard, and to fellow members of any group you join. Nothing else on this list is shown to other users.
4. Photos you submit for grading
Some word problems can be solved on paper and graded from a photo instead of typed. If you use this, the photo and the problem’s context are sent to OpenAI’s APIto transcribe your answer and judge it — processed to produce a grade, subject to OpenAI’s own API data-handling terms. We store the photo only as long as needed to grade it and keep the transcribed answer text (not a copy of the image) as part of your submission history.
5. AI-generated puzzle content
Every problem in TinkerDay — text and any puzzle artwork — is generated by OpenAI’s APIahead of time, based on a topic and age bracket, not on anything personal to you. These generation requests don’t include your account information.
6. Notifications
TinkerDay’s daily-drop reminder and streak-rescue nudge are scheduled entirely on your deviceusing iOS’s local notification system. Nothing about when you’re reminded, or that you were reminded, is sent to or stored on our servers — we don’t operate a push-notification service for this app.
7. Purchases
Creating or administering a private group requires a TinkerDay Premium subscription, sold as an auto-renewing in-app purchase through the Apple App Store. Your payment is handled entirely by Apple — we never see or store your card or payment details. We receive only the subscription status needed to unlock the feature, synced from Apple’s StoreKit.
8. Crash diagnostics
TinkerDay uses Apple’s built-in MetricKit framework to collect on-device crash diagnostics, which we receive to keep the app stable. These are technical reports (what code was running when the app crashed) tied to your account only so we can gauge how widespread an issue is — they don’t contain puzzle content or personal messages.
9. Infrastructure and service providers
A small number of providers run the app on our behalf:
- Supabase — hosts our database, handles authentication, and stores the photos described above.
- OpenAI — generates puzzle content and grades photographed answers.
- Apple — provides Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases, and on-device crash diagnostics.
10. Analytics and tracking
TinkerDay does not include third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps and websites.
11. Deleting your account
Settings has a “Delete account”option that permanently removes your profile, points, streak, and solve history — no need to email us. If you created a group, deleting your account deletes that group entirely, including its membership for everyone in it (other members’ own accounts and data are otherwise unaffected). This can’t be undone.
12. Children
TinkerDay is not directed to children under 13, and the app’s own minimum age bracket starts at 14. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above.
