Terms of Service

By downloading or using CounterMint (the “app”), you agree to these Terms of Service. CounterMint is published by AkiziTech (“we”, “our”, “us”). If you do not agree, please don’t use the app.

CounterMint is a fun, informational risk-assessment aid. You photograph a card (front, and optionally back), our mascot Pip runs a set of checks and a visual comparison against the official card image, may ask a quick follow-up question, and the app gives a friendly verdict — “Looks good”, “Take a closer look”, or “Be careful” — with plain-language reasons.

Results are generated with the help of AI (provided by OpenAI, with Google Gemini as a backup), and AI results can be wrong: a card may be misread, mismatched, or misjudged, especially from a blurry or glare-heavy photo. A verdict is guidance, not a certification, grading, or authentication service, and it is not a guarantee that a card is genuine or counterfeit. Never rely on CounterMint as the sole basis for buying, selling, trading, or valuing a card.

• For any valuable card, get it examined or graded by a reputable professional service.
• CounterMint does not appraise value and makes no guaranteed claim about a card’s authenticity, condition, or worth.
• Card identification and details are generated with the help of AI and third-party data sources, and may be incomplete or incorrect.

• Market estimates are rough. Collection and card values are estimates based on third-party market data (TCGplayer prices via the Pokémon TCG API at pokemontcg.io). They may be outdated, incomplete, or off by a lot — condition, grading, language, and edition all change real prices. They are not appraisals, offers, or financial advice.
• Ask Pip replies are AI-generated and may be inaccurate or out of date. Treat them as a starting point, not as fact.
• News headlines on Home come from PokeBeach and link to its website. We don’t write or control that content and aren’t responsible for it.

CounterMint runs on tokens; there is no subscription and no account. Having Pip check whether a card is real or fake costs 2 tokens; adding a card to your collection by photo or checking a trade costs 1 token; and 1 token unlocks 5 Ask Pip messages. The cost of an action is always shown in the app before you spend anything, and may change as the app evolves. Tokens are sold as consumable in-app purchases through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Prices are shown by the store in your local currency at the time of purchase.

• Tokens do not expire.
• Tokens have no cash value, are not transferable, and cannot be redeemed for money.
• Tokens are consumable: once spent, they’re used up, including when a check returns a verdict you disagree with.
• Purchases are non-refundable except where required by law or the relevant app store’s policies — refund requests are handled by Apple or Google.
• “Restore purchases” is available to recover entitlements tied to your store account.

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose or to misrepresent a CounterMint verdict as an official authentication or grade;
• Reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or abuse the app or its backend service; or
• Attempt to circumvent token limits, rate limits, or security measures.

Only photograph cards you own or have permission to photograph. You keep any rights you have in your photos. You give us permission to process them to provide the app, as described in the Privacy Policy.

A share link you create can be opened by anyone who has it, so only share what you’re happy for others to see. When you send feedback (with an optional note and photo), you let us use it to improve CounterMint’s checks.

CounterMint is an independent app published by AkiziTech. It is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or approved by The Pokémon Company International, Nintendo, Creatures Inc., or GAME FREAK inc. Pokémon and all related names are trademarks of their respective owners, used here only to describe the cards the app checks.

Card names, artwork, and set details shown in the app are the property of their respective owners and are supplied by third-party sources such as TCGdex and the Pokémon TCG API for identification purposes only. We claim no ownership of them.

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of results. We do not warrant that verdicts, card details, market estimates, or Ask Pip replies are correct, or that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AkiziTech will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on a verdict, an estimate, or an Ask Pip reply — including any decision to buy, sell, trade, or value a card. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for tokens in the 12 months before the claim.

We may update these terms as the app changes. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above, and your continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
