The short version: CounterMint has no account and no login. Your check history and tokens stay on your phone. The only things that leave your device are the card photos and answers you send for analysis — and those are processed in real time and never stored as a profile.
1. Who we are
CounterMint is a mobile app published by AkiziTech, an independent studio (“we”, “our”, “us”). It helps casual collectors assess whether a Pokémon card is likely counterfeit. You can reach us at support@akizitech.com.
2. Data we store on your device
CounterMint has no account and no login. The following is saved only in the app’s local storage on your phone and is never uploaded to a CounterMint server:
- Your check history— the cards you’ve scanned and the verdicts and reasons you received.
- Your collection — cards you choose to save.
- Your token balance, your language choice, and basic app preferences (such as whether you’ve finished onboarding).
You can export a backupof your collection and history to a JSON file from Settings and import it on another device. That file is created and shared by you, goes wherever you choose, and is never sent to us. Token balances are deliberately excluded from backups (purchases move via the store’s “Restore purchases” instead).
3. Data sent for card inspection
To inspect a card, CounterMint sends the following to our analysis service — a Cloudflare Worker that calls Google’s Gemini model:
- The photos of the card you capture (downscaled before sending), and
- The answersyou give to Minty’s follow-up questions.
These are processed in real time to produce a verdict and are not used to build a profile of you. Each scan runs as a short-lived server session that holds the conversation and images only transiently and auto-deletes after about two hours of inactivity.
There is no account or personal identifier attached to these requests. Requests may carry a single fixed app key that is the same for every install and does not identify you. To prevent abuse, basic rate limits are applied by IP address at our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare); the IP is used for that protective purpose and not to profile you. We never sell or share this content with advertisers.
4. Card information lookups
When you search your collection or view a card’s official artwork and details, the app queries TCGdex (api.tcgdex.net), a free, open-source Pokémon TCG database. Only the card name or search text and your chosen language are sent so it can return the right data — no personal information is included. TCGdex is operated by a third party under its own terms.
5. Permissions and why we ask for them
- Camera — to photograph the card you want checked. Images are used for the inspection and then handled as described above.
- Photo library— optional, only if you choose “Pick from library” instead of the camera. We access only the photo you select.
- Files — only when you explicitly export or import a backup, to write or read the file you pick.
6. Analytics and tracking
CounterMint does not include third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps and websites. Aggregate, non-identifying diagnostics provided by the app stores (such as crash reports) may be available to us to keep the app stable; these are not linked to your identity.
7. Service providers
We rely on a small number of third parties to run the app. Each receives only what it needs for its function:
- Google (Gemini) — analyses the card photos and answers to generate a verdict.
- Cloudflare — hosts our analysis service and applies abuse protection.
- TCGdex — supplies card names, details, and artwork.
- Apple App Store / Google Play (via RevenueCat) — handle token purchases.
8. Purchases
Tokens are sold as in-app purchases through the Apple App Store and Google Play, managed via RevenueCat. Your payment is handled entirely by the app store — we never see or store your card or payment details. We receive only the transaction information needed to credit your tokens and support “Restore purchases”.
9. Children
CounterMint is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because there is no account and no personal data sent to us, the app collects no such information by design.
10. Data deletion
Since your history, collection, and tokens live only on your device, deleting the app removes that data. Any backup file you exported is yours to keep or delete. We hold no server-side user database to delete from. If you have any question about data, email support@akizitech.comand we’ll help.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app.
